Edwin O. Smith Foundation Grants
Since 2007, the Foundation has been awarding grants on a competitive basis to E.O. Smith faculty and staff. Each year between $15,000 - $25,000 in grants are awarded. To date, the Foundation has given over $150,000 in grant monies to support school initiatives.
The grants awarded reflect the philosophy of the Foundation that funding increase teaching effectiveness through the use of technology or other tools, support specific projects of scholarly or experiential merit for students or, benefit scholarship or other forms of student accomplishment. However, the funding is not intended to cover core items that should fall within the regular school budget. Such grants encourage staff to seek out innovative projects and to involve students in academic or other pursuits that are beyond the scope of the Board of Education to fund. While many of the grants have been for piloting new technology in the classroom, others have offered opportunities for students and teachers to experiment with new approaches to learning, or to encourage students to expand their possibilities.

Applications (which can be found here) are generally due the beginning of April, and awards are announced at the May or June faculty meeting.
