NOMINATION CRITERIA & PROCESS
You may nominate more than one person, but you must fill out a separate nomination form for each. The committee will make the selection and notify the nominee. Candidates will be chosen from distinct categories and outstanding achievement in various fields.
MISSION
The purpose of the E.O. Smith Hall of Fame is to recognize alumni, staff, and community members whose outstanding achievements, contributions or character serve as an inspiration for current and former students.
CATEGORIES
Alumni: Alumni must have graduated at least 10 years ago to be eligible for nomination. Nominees should have demonstrated outstanding achievement in and contributions to such fields including but not limited to: medicine, science, business, law, education, arts, entertainment, athletics, community service, and humanitarian endeavors. Nominees will be from all walks of life, whether their achievements are singular or cumulative, ethical or moral.
Staff: Staff must have been employed by E.O. Smith High School for at least ten years to be eligible for nomination. Nominees should have demonstrated exemplary professional work and have served as positive role models for the students of E.O. Smith.
Community Members: Community members are individuals whose generosity, efforts, or contributions have supported the students, programs, or traditions of E.O. Smith.
CRITERIA
Nominees in any category will be selected based upon a record of outstanding achievement in one or more of the following:
- Achievement or distinction, including but not limited to professional honors, awards, or memberships;
- Citizenship, including but not limited to moral or ethical contributions;
- Civic or community involvement or contributions;
- Outstanding leadership or service;
- Significant contributions to the E.O. Smith student body, community, and/or mission of E. O. Smith High School.
RECOGNITION
Nominees will be honored at a recognition event in May of 2024 hosted by the Edwin O. Smith Foundation and will be invited to share their achievements with the E. O. Smith community. Each name and achievement will be inscribed on a plaque for the E. O. Smith Hall of Fame.
